Car Import FAQs

How long does it take to import a car?

The import process takes 45 days after deposit and car selection. We handle the entire process, including shipping, clearance, registration, duty payment, and doorstep delivery.

Can I get financing for my import?

Yes. Carhoot now offers financing for import units. Contact our agent for details.

What do I need to register a car?
  • KRA PIN - This is the taxman's certificate in Kenya.
  • National ID or Alien ID - This is your identification card.
  • TIMS registration - An online portal under the NTSA website where car ownership, transfer, and management happens.
What do I do if I do not have the required documents?
  • In the case you don't have any of the above documents, you can appoint a proxy to hold ownership on your behalf as you process your documents, but note, the insurance will be registered under their name as well.
